• Lead DD and GFC production of electrical packages for the Hospital, Medical College, Meditel, Residential, Central Utility Plant (CUP) and allied facilities.
• Review and validate the consultant’s electrical design basis, load calculations, single line diagrams (SLDs), equipment sizing, cable sizing, fault level and voltage drop calculations, and system studies.
• Ensure healthcare-specific electrical requirements are met:
– Power supply categories (normal, essential, critical and life safety) with the required redundancy
– Isolated Power Supply (IPS/IT systems) for OTs and ICUs
– UPS, DG backup and automatic changeover for critical loads
– Power quality, harmonics and earthing for sensitive medical equipment such as MRI, CT, cath labs and LINAC
– Lightning protection, equipotential bonding and patient-safety earthing
• Drive production of GFC drawings: HT/LT schematics, substation, DG, UPS and electrical room layouts, cable routing and containment, lighting and power layouts, panel schedules, and installation details.
• Lead value engineering of the HT/LT distribution scheme, transformer and DG sizing, diversity factors, busway vs. cable choices, lighting design and controls. The goal is lower capital and operating costs without compromising reliability or clinical safety.
• Coordinate electrical design with Architecture, Structure, HVAC, PHE & Fire, ELV/BMS, Medical Equipment and Interiors. This covers electrical rooms, shafts, risers, equipment loads and ceiling-void coordination, with clashes resolved through BIM coordination.
• Coordinate with the power utility for HT supply, substation approvals and load sanction, and integrate solar PV and energy-efficiency measures (ECBC, IGBC/LEED/GRIHA).
• Prepare and review specifications, BOQ inputs, equipment data sheets and tender documents.
• Review consultant DD and GFC submissions for completeness, code compliance, constructability and drawing quality.
• Support site teams with RFIs, shop drawing and submittal reviews, design clarifications, and testing & commissioning requirements.
