About the Role

We are seeking a talented and smart Backend Engineer to join our team supporting FINRA’s regulatory technology platforms. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work onsite in Rockville or Tysons three days a week. If you have strong experience in Node.js or Java and are open to working with different languages, this is a great opportunity to design and build production-grade, cloud-native enterprise applications in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise web applications using object-oriented principles and cloud-native architectures on AWS.
• Architect event-driven, serverless backend services and RESTful APIs with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and asynchronous messaging via Amazon SQS and SNS.
• Build responsive front-end components using TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, and Angular 16+ in a monorepo setup.
• Design and optimize data persistence layers with relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DocumentDB, DynamoDB) databases.
• Implement cloud-native architectures leveraging AWS ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS, and DocumentDB for scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant solutions.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Create comprehensive end-to-end tests with Playwright and TypeScript, including integration and performance validations.
• Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams through sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of progressive experience in full-stack software development, with a backend focus.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience with Angular 16+ and monorepo architecture for front-end development.
• Expertise in AWS services: Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, ECS, S3, RDS, DocumentDB, DynamoDB.
• Solid relational database skills with Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with NoSQL databases like DocumentDB or DynamoDB.
• Skilled in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Experience writing automated tests with Playwright and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and SDLC best practices.
