JACOBS has an immediate opportunity for an On-Site Mechanical Engineer at our project near Baton Rouge, LA.
The Mechanical On-Site Engineer serves as the Professional’s field representative for mechanical systems and oversees coordination between construction teams and the engineering design team. The role focuses on supporting installation, issue resolution, quality reviews, and successful delivery of critical mechanical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
• Perform daily site observations and assess installation progress and workmanship.
• Coordinate mechanical design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
• Facilitate responses to RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
• Support reviews of equipment layouts, utility routing, and coordination between trades.
• Participate in constructability reviews, BIM coordination activities, and mockup evaluations.
• Identify and document mechanical installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Support factory testing, bench testing, startup activities, and commissioning preparation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to resolve installation issues.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports summarizing observations, risks, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
• Proactively identify design, quality, and schedule risks and support resolution strategies.
Here’s what you’ll need
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations experience; or 5+ years in hyperscale data center environments.
• Experience with chilled water systems, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, piping systems, and mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Ability to evaluate field conditions and provide practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

The base salary range for this position is $95,200.00 to $130,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
