Art of Intelligence
Art of Intel. We are not a traditional recruiting firm—we are a hands-on boutique consulting firm that works exclusively with select small and mid-sized companies to identify hard-to-find technical talent.
I’m currently supporting a fully remote Lead Mobile Developer opportunity focused on owning a production Flutter application for a public-sector client.
Responsibilities
This is a hands-on lead role. Most of your time is in the Flutter codebase. The rest is spent in the supporting Next.js web app and its API layer, and in Directus, our headless CMS — enough that you can trace a request from a widget back to the content record that produced it. You’ll be building under federal security and accessibility requirements, where correctness and testing matter more than raw velocity.
What You’ll Do
• Own the architecture and technical direction of the Flutter app, and stay hands-on writing production code.
• Build features end to end: BLoC/Cubit state management, GoRouter navigation, REST integration, and deliberate handling of loading, error, and offline states.
• Maintain our smart-card (CAC) authentication flow — Keycloak, JWT, secure token storage — and our push notification pipeline (AWS SNS across APNS and FCM).
• Own the release process — build flavors, signing and provisioning, TestFlight and internal track distribution, and store submission.
• Set and enforce the testing strategy across unit, widget, and integration tests; keep CI green.
• Contribute features, API routes, and content models across the Next.js app and Directus.
• Lead code review, mentor junior developers, and grow the team’s Flutter depth.
• Work directly with product and government stakeholders to turn mission requirements into shippable work.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of professional software engineering, including 3+ years building and shipping production Flutter applications.
• Deep experience with BLoC/Cubit, GoRouter, and clean separation between UI, logic, and repository layers.
• Track record shipping to the App Store and Google Play, including signing, provisioning, and review feedback.
• Experience owning technical decisions and mentoring other engineers.
• Enough TypeScript and React to be productive in a Next.js codebase.
Preferred
• Next.js App Router and API routes; a headless CMS such as Directus, Strapi, or Contentful.
• OAuth2/OIDC, Keycloak, or PKI/smart-card authentication.
• Mobile push infrastructure (AWS SNS, FCM, APNS) and mapping work (Mapbox or equivalent).
• Prior federal, defense, or other compliance-heavy environment.
