About the Role
Our client is seeking an ambitious and results-oriented Remote Solar Project Developer to identify, evaluate, and advance solar energy projects from inception through to financial close. This fully remote position allows you to contribute to the clean energy transition from anywhere in the US. You will be responsible for site selection, land acquisition, interconnection applications, and securing necessary permits. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of solar technology, project finance, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects. You will work with a passionate team dedicated to accelerating the adoption of solar power.
Key Responsibilities Identify and assess potential sites for utility-scale and distributed solar projects. Conduct site visits and feasibility studies, including preliminary resource assessments and interconnection analysis. Negotiate and secure land leases, purchase agreements, and other real estate contracts. Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and key milestones. Prepare and submit interconnection applications to utility companies. Obtain all necessary local, state, and federal permits and approvals. Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, community stakeholders, and local authorities. Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners. Support financial modeling and investment analysis for project finance. Stay current with solar industry trends, policies, incentives, and competitive landscape. Prepare project proposals and presentations for internal review and external partners. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar project development or renewable energy project management. Demonstrated success in originating, developing, and closing solar energy projects. Strong understanding of solar PV technology, system design principles, and interconnection processes. Proficiency in navigating land acquisition, permitting, and zoning regulations. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with financial modeling and project finance concepts is highly desirable. Familiarity with PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) structures and negotiation. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet aggressive deadlines in a remote environment. Proficiency in CRM software and project management tools. Must possess a strong work ethic and a passion for renewable energy. This is a fully remote position. Benefits
