As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our product engineering organization. In this role, you will help design, build, and scale features across our unified platform—from highly responsive React user interfaces down to core data processing backends built on Java and Python. This role is exceptional for an engineer looking to combine traditional full-stack development with cutting-edge AI-native engineering, specifically working with custom instrumentation agents and the emerging Model Context Protocol (MCP) ecosystem.
What You'll Do
● End-to-End Ownership: Feature delivery from UI wireframes to backend
implementation, database migrations, and production deployments.
● UI/UX Development: Build, maintain, and optimize elegant, data-dense web
experiences and custom charts/dashboards using React, JavaScript, and HTML.
● Scalable Backend Services: Write high-quality, production-ready backend logic utilizing
Java (Spring Boot) and Python for processing heavy telemetry workloads.
● Database Management: Model data for high-throughput, low-latency systems across
structured SQL and unstructured NoSQL databases.
● DevOps & Observability Culture: Actively leverage New Relic’s own platform to
monitor app health, troubleshoot production latency, and improve system reliability.
This Role Requires
● Experience: 3 + years of professional software engineering experience in a
collaborative, agile team environment.
● Front End Craftsmanship: Strong proficiency in React, vanilla JavaScript, and
HTML. Solid understanding of state management and modern CSS.
● Backend Skills: Deep hands-on experience in Java (JVM tuning and microservices
framework experience preferred) combined with professional exposure to Python for
scripts, data pipelines, or web services.
● Database Proficiency: Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and
query optimization (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis).
● Software Hygiene: Strong mastery of Git workflows, unit/integration testing (e.g., JUnit,
Jest, PyTest), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Bonus Points (Added Advantages)
● Telemetry & Agent Development: Experience writing or customizing monitoring
agents, eBPF probes, or open-source collection daemons (like OpenTelemetry).
● AI Tools & MCP Servers: Experience developing or connecting to Model Context
Protocol (MCP) servers, creating developer tools, or designing custom AI agent
integrations to enhance engineering productivity.
● Distributed Systems: Familiarity with high-throughput messaging structures like
Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
