Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II

JOB SUMMARY
Essential Functions/Duties The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall approach and implementation of the systems engineering (SE) effort for a Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition program
The Lead Systems Engineer partners with and provides oversight for vendor teams during the development, test, and fielding of a new airborne measurement platform
As part of the integrated product team (IPT), they review technical and safety documentation, the engineering approach, data rights assertions, and other related SE artifacts
This position advises and provides technical expertise to the government program manager and chief engineer on all SE related topics, ensuring a successful acquisition
The ideal candidate will:
• Perform equally well independently or as part of a multi-disciplined team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Provide SE expertise to the customer team during the development effort for a DoD acquisition program
• Travel to vendor facilities to partner with and work closely with vendor teams to provide technical leadership and guidance of SE efforts and produce status reports and recommendations
• Collaborate with government personnel to prioritize planning and deliverables to meet changing customer needs
• Implement industry standard and/or rigorous methodologies to verify and validate vendor plans and documentation
• Be responsible for creating, maintaining and updating related technical documentation
• Perform other position-related duties and assignment as directed Desired Qualifications
• The ideal candidate is a highly motivated engineer with systems engineering experience during military aircraft or mission systems programs
• Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, IBM Rhapsody, and/or other system modeling tools
• Experience with JAMA, DOORS, and/or other requirements database tools
• Experience in radiometry, optics, and calibration of infrared systems
• Experience in flight testing of aircraft systems and sensor testing with a clear understanding of flight test principles and discipline
• Experience in the concepts, principles, and practices of software development, deployment, implementation, test, and fielding
• Experience with the DoD airworthiness process
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other coding languages
• Current TS Clearance Requirements Education, Technical, and Work Experience A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and eight years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four years of related engineering experience are required for this position
In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:
• Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Well-developed leadership skills
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines
Salary The expected salary range for this position is $94,000 to $139,000 annually

Working Conditions Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards
Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required
Travel to remote company work locations may be required
