Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has officially opened registrations for the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) 2026. Depending upon your performance score in the Advanced section of the test, candidates are bifurcated into three distinct engineering cadres with industry-leading compensation structures:
2. Detailed Eligibility & Academic Cutoff Criteria
- Eligible Qualifications: B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech / MCA / M.Sc / M.S in any engineering discipline or computer science.
- Academic Percentage: Minimum 60% or 6.0 CGPA throughout 10th, 12th, Diploma, and all graduation semesters.
- Backlog Policy: Maximum of 1 active backlog permitted at the time of appearing for the exam. All backlogs must be cleared prior to onboarding.
- Academic Gap: Overall academic gap must not exceed 24 months (2 years) with valid supporting documentation.
- Age Limit: 18 to 28 years at the time of joining.
3. Comprehensive Exam Pattern & Syllabus (Section-Wise)
The TCS NQT test consists of two integrated sections that must be completed in a single proctored testing window:
Part A: Foundation Section (75 Minutes – 65 Questions)
- Numerical Ability (25 Questions / 25 Mins): Number Systems, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Speed Distance Time, Permutations & Combinations, Data Interpretation.
- Verbal Ability (25 Questions / 25 Mins): Sentence Completion, Error Spotting, Reading Comprehension, Synonyms & Antonyms, Prepositions.
- Reasoning Ability (20 Questions / 25 Mins): Syllogisms, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Seating Arrangements, Data Sufficiency, Series Completion.
Part B: Advanced Section (115 Minutes – Mandatory for Digital & Prime)
- Advanced Quantitative Ability (10 Questions / 20 Mins): Higher Mathematics, Probability, Geometry, Advanced Algebra.
- Advanced Reasoning Ability (10 Questions / 15 Mins): Critical Thinking, Venn Diagrams, Complex Logic Puzzles.
- Advanced Hands-on Coding (3 Questions / 80 Mins): 1 Medium DSA Problem (Array/String/Hashing) and 2 Hard DSA Problems (Dynamic Programming, Tree/Graph Traversal). Allowed languages: C, C++, Java, Python, and Perl.
